As we live in a world where living from one day to the next has become a challenge, it does not deter some people from making plans for the next day or even into the distant future. We have grown accustomed to making plans, but we make them without considering that unexpected events can happen which can make it necessary to change or abandon our plans altogether. James informs us in James 4:14 that we do not know what will happen from one day to the next. He also uses nature to let us know that our lives is like the morning dew; it is here for a short while and then it vanished away. James' warning is a reminder that we should not live in this world thinking that it is our permanent home. This world is only temporary and at any moment, our lives can be over. The purpose of this sermon is to remind us that we should not live as if we will not have unexpected events that can turn our lives upside down. Moreover, these unexpected events can wreak havoc, in our lives, to the extent that we can find it difficult to live and function with a peace of mind. That is why James warms us not to worry about tomorrow.
